The specs on this thing look amazing,
4K High Dynamic Range visuals and up to 120fps1, as two 2000 x 2040 OLED displays deliver over four times the resolution generated by the original PlayStation®VR headset. Eye tracking Headset feedback Tempest 3D AudioTech Single-cable connection Jump straight into new virtual worlds with a simple one-cable connection to the PlayStation 5 console’s front USB port. PlayStation VR2 is quick and easy to set up – just plug in and play.
Finger touch detection Haptic feedback Adaptive triggers
This thing is going to just amazing, i just can't wait, and a single cable connection and inside out tracking means we could see this HMD working on the PC quite easy as a PCVR device, Sony kicking the can right down the road with this HMD.

I thought I replied to this already. But yeah, I signed up before this was posted. Looking forward to it, hope it's. Knocked out of the park.

The new PSVR2 hmd has finally been revealed: uploadvr.com/psvr-2-headset-design-revealed/I really dislike white hmds, but with the white PS5 design, I guess this was to expect. So main issues: No headphones The damn thing is white like the dreaded Quest 2 Inferior inside-out tracking - but it's high-res oled and does look kinda cool, even in white... Like a shiny Stormtrooper, lol.

The headphones my be the same as the psvr, the are in ear ones that clip around the back of the hmd, and they work fine and are comfortable and offer nice sound.
But i am loving the look of this hmd, a more compact smaller version of the psvr, which like the cv1 was very comfortable and lite to wear, and Sony are in a unique position because they can not only offer inside out tracking with this new hmd itself, but they could also add extra room scale tracking via the ps5 camera to supplement the tracking of the hmd, so Sony certainly have plenty of options with the ps5, but i can't wait, love the psvr so the psvr 2 will be my goto hnd, and hopefully we see the likes of Elite dangerous getting a psvr 2 port, as it would look glorious on this oled psvr 2.

Tried the PS5 this weekend for the first time. I wasn't very impressed. I tried Matrix Awakens demo - but it was only 30 fps even with res 1920x1080. It did look nice, but I'm pretty sure my RTX 3090 can do that so much better, lol. Dirt 5 was nice, at least 60 fps - but not sure it looked better than other recent PC racing games. The PS5 version of AstroBot did impress me - not that it's that technically demanding, but everything just looked great and was fun - the content felt fresh and new. After seeing the PS5, I'm not expecting much more than a GTX 1080 (Ti) powered PC, but if Sony can do magic content like AstroBot, then that's fine with me. The PS5 is also very big and I'm not a great fan of the design, would really be nice with a smaller version...
Surely the PS5 is a giant monster compared to the insect-like phone gpu in Quest 2.
I bet we're waiting for the PSVR2 not due to the hardware, but due to the software - Sony needs some awesome VR PS5 games/content to launch the PSVR2, and games take a very long time to make... Hardware is the easy stuff, the software is the difficult stuff...

As has been stated before, internal commentary from ex-Oculus staffers was that Sony was seen by management as the biggest danger to the Oculus/Meta plans.
With the appearance at GDC'22 of PSVR2, it is clear now that this powerful VR platform offers a greater "immersive" gaming and experience platform than the Smartphone powered Quest2.
How the Shills will defend the Quest2 in the face of this seem to be split into two areas:
- Claim that VR with cables is stupid - Claim that Oculus has the Cambria that will be equally as powerful
Not sure how that will workout for them, especially with the rave reviews initially from those lucky enough to try the PSVR2 - but if you have been paid to shill what else are you going to do!

Did you not try the PSVR on the PS5, and No mans Sky, which even though was still using the old PS4 pro version, some extra power from the PS5 was patched into the game, and it was simply stunning, sharp and clear and ran like a dream, and this was not even a fraction of the PS5 power, blew me away, it became my ED on the PS5.....that is why i am so hyped for the PSVR2, going to be amazing.

No, it's my sister's husband, he has not bought PSVR, only the PS5. But this could be a game changer - foveated rendering adding nearly 4 times higher fps would take the PS5 gpu to RTX 3090 non-foveated levels, or even higher: uploadvr.com/psvr-2-eye-tracking-foveated-rendering-gdc/- but I'm happy just for Astrobot... :-)

I do not think the VR community understands the ramifications of this system - at such a low price for such high performance, AAA devs will high ball it rather than cut back. A reason no one mentions that so few AAA studios have released Quest2 cut back content, but have taken money from Sony for AAA PSVR2 projects. GDC is conspicuous by the lack of real Quest2 discussion. Though the Meta team are hold up in their room. There is word on the floor that Meta may have pissed off some studios regarding deal promises. And its funny how little Project Cambria discussion there is ...anywhere! All this and the LBVR industry is actively invited to attend - shame for all those that claim VR LBE is dead I think we better prepare ourselves for a major pivot from Meta (Reality Labs) over their business focus - a factor Horizon World has seen so little support of late! Ah, we can go back to being a VR community rather than cheerleaders for Meta!

Yeah I have a sneaky suspicion Cambria has been side lined for now.

^^If their recent mess with the Q2 and lost and broaken accounts system is anything to go by, then everyone should be happy to see FB put everything on hold until they sort of what seems like a utter disaster behind the scenes, as would anyone at this point still be willing to buy into such a broken system that it seems can fall over in such a catastrophic manner at any moment. lol

Not really the "wind of change!" Many AAA studios already mentioned they had little interest in Quest2 dev. A reason why Oculus/Meta increased the rumors about reaching 10m sales, to try and encourage interest.
The reality is 'Meta did what Meta does best' and burnt bridges. After the problems of the Medal of Honour VR project stories got out, no one really wanted to waste time with Meta (Reality Labs). Also most see Standalone as not really advancing VR dev.
Its funny, Meta has become as toxic as those that support them - I wonder if that is a reaction, a symptom or an inevitability?
I never imparted the story about the devs on Windlands - and how they left working with Oculus after their brush with the toxic atmosphere. Sure the Beat Games recent departures have their own stories to share (once out of their gag order).
If Sony totally owns the VR 2022 Christmas - Facebook/Meta board of investors will demand root-and-branch reform - not just some low tier exec sacking!
May explain why Com.Mod was so keen to get the Sony PSVR2 story off the forum!!
