Thanks - but I guess you have bought it all? All planes, terrains, campaigns? Not all but certainly vast majority. I have all maps and most planes/choppers, just a small handful I do not have.

Btw, ended up getting MSFS2020 too, and have been enjoying it greatly. But can see MSFS2020 is a hit or miss for many - as many seem to experience severe technical issues.
Maybe I was too careless - I started downloading a lot of different free content inside the sim - but I think something went wrong with the free Maverick (Tom Cruise) map and plane. Suddenly MSFS2020 insisted on updating - and started downloading a gigantic 123 GB update.
I lost everything - feels like the game reinstalled itself from scratch - all extra content now gone (including maps from Australia, Scandinavia, Spain, USA and more - and took many hours to download). This is a very serious error.
Guess I'll stay clear of the fast planes for now and enjoy the free flights in planes which won't cause Granny and motion sickness :-)

Yeah there is a lot MSFS 2020 does not load and install until it is really needed. I installed a lot I will never get around to flying around, so wasted a lot of time. I have tabled it for now since a new one is coming out in 24, just don't want to invest anymore time in it. I may have a short relaxing cruise flight sometime, but that would be it. Too much to do in DCS for me.

Too much to do in DCS for me. For now it's the other ways around for me - MSFS 2020 is much more easy going - I can just fly using the Index controllers and do nothing, lol - I can do that in DCS too, but MSFS2020 takes me to the most beautiful places in the world - or close enough. And I've got tons of locations. I've been to Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, Norway and several other of the about 30 free flight MSFS2020 locations in the real world, but experiencing the places from a plane - with the great attention to detail provided by MSFS2020 - it's a great joy to virtually be back :-) Also the performance with Index thanks to motion smoothing is very impressive - without motion smoothing you'll surely need solid 90 fps for similar smooth gameplay. This dude does not have the Aero, but preferred Index to G2, Quest 2, Rift-S and more thanks to the great motion smoothing and the big fov: I stayed away from MSFS2020 for years thinking the performance would be horrible - but it works really impressive with the Index, even with no foveated rendering. Maybe also good to have waited, at launch Index controllers were unsupported, and seems MSFS2020 has been nicely patched for issues and performance over the years. DCS does seems to work with less hassle, I've not seen the kind of install issues with DCS that I've seen with MSFS2020. I'm thinking DCS is more for the combat, while MSFS2020 is great just for relaxation. For now I enjoy the latter :-) I'll put my 11 year old son in the DCS F15C cockpit later - just sitting there surely is an impressive experience.

Yes DCS is more about combat. DCS = "Digital Combat Simulator"

MSFS is aimed at private and commercial flying. You'd probably be surprised how serious some people take it. DCS is about Military war aircraft and is aimed at combat primarily. They're both amazing in their own right and I have a lot of hours in both. Sadly though, at this stage of my life I can't seem to enjoy either for long anymore. Takes too long for flights and I don't get the dopamine hits that I used to get from flying aircraft. Always end up rather doing something else. That's not a slight on the games though, just a personal situation. That said, I am excited to try the new MSFS to see what has advanced. What I really want most is a new space simulator for VR. There's only so much Elite Dangerous and No Man's Sky I can play lol.

Agree space simulator for VR is very lean, not much at all. I don't care much for Elite Dangerous, just never found myself liking it that much and I did try.
We have Star Wars Squadrons but it is a little gamey and hard to keep playing as it just gets so repetive. We really need a good Space VR game. Like a tie fighter versus X-Wing. Those were the days.

Some interesting observations/performance numbers on the new AA options in DCS 2.9 Oct 23 suddenly feels like a long time ago. Without Don I might never have gotten into the cockpit. Gotta let my 11 year old son try it, just being inside a plane is a great experience, and DCS supports native Oculus drivers.
