I'm gonna play it at some point when it's on sale. It's just another Dark Souls game with some open world elements. I'm pretty tired of Dark Souls and it seems overhyped to me.
That said,I do have to nitpick a bit. VR is definitely not 95-97% bigger screen space. Monitors can do 110 horizontal FoV no problem which is more than most VR headsets. The vertical FoV though is where VR has an advantage as monitors are less impressive, sometimes as low as 60 depending on the resolution and aspect ratio. But, in my example, I'm playing 3 feet from a 48" monitor so my entire vision is filled with screen. For long term playing, I prefer it over VR these days as there's no sweatyness while playing and nothing on my face and I get much better performance on the monitor. You're still seeing the same space in the game as VR though. The difference is you're panning with a mouse instead of your head. But you have 360 degrees available.
Where VR wins handily though is depth perception. Things look more 3d and real in VR.

I was more considering the ability to see 360 degrees around me (feeling of being inside a full sphere) in VR, also when I physically turn around, while my 2D 51" only covers a very small part of the full sphere. Also looking up and down in VR, I'm totally immersed. I wonder how many 2D 51" screens I'll need to fully cover a sphere around me, maybe 6 feet away (diameter of 12 to maybe 18 feet), might take quite a lot of curved 2D screens, and the needed gpu power would be immense, lol.
Btw, my comparison Elden Ring vs. Asgard's Wrath was only comparing the Elden Ring trailer, which I found rather unimpressive. But saw some more screenshots, and Elden Ring may of course have better grass, longer view distance etc - that game only has to do 1 x 60 fps, not 2 x 90 fps.
Elden Ring has mixed ratings on Steam, rather strange for a 95% Metascore - but performance seems bad on many rigs. One dude suggested renaming the game to Stutte-Ring, lol.

Yea, it's built primary for console so it's a Port for PC. That's the main cause for a lot of the bad reviews. The port seems to be half assed.

I guess I understand the feeling statement but the VR headset isn't actually displaying 360 around you. It's just adjusting when you turn your head on the same screens the same as when you pan around with a mouse. But yea I do agree it feels more lifelike and realistic in VR because it kind of tricks the brain due to it moving along with your head movement.

Exactly - and compared having to enter a full sphere, VR is kinda genius only exposing the brain for the part of the sphere it's looking at (fooling us to believe there's a full sphere) - while in 2D you'd probably have to construct a full sphere with 2D screens all over - and that would be close to impossible (or extremely expensive). It's my primary problem with 2D - nice fov is only there if I accept to sit close to a screen and not to move/turn my head and body. It's a very restrictive space. After being into VR for some years, I find it increasingly difficult having to sit still - and also not to have some kind of real hands. Even if sitting close to a 2D screen, the Index does feel much bigger - I can't get the feeling of sitting in a real cinema at home using a normal screen - but Index does come really close, like using Vive Video res 500% - kinda fools my brain as if I'm in a real (giant) cinema. Surely the Varjo Aero might show some force here, even with smaller fov than Index. Still might get Elden Ring one day - to see what's all the fuss is about :-) And looks like my kind of game content - I'd be in VR heaven right now if Elden Ring had just been released by Valve for the Index Same with Death Stranding, I love these kinds of walking sims, but I lose interest with the 2D restrictions.
