It has arrived!! Going to go ahead and install this evening but will be later on tomorrow morning before I can give it a really good workout in DCS. Will have most of the day tomorrow set aside just for this.

Well I am fried tonight and lighting in my office ain't the greatest, going to wait and do it fresh in the morning when sun is up. Got everything ready and all software Presion X related uninstalled and out of appdata folders. Only thing left is removing the drivers with DDU and shutting her down to put the new card in.
It comes with a nice anti sag bracket that should mount easily it appears, and also a 4 year warranty which is nice. Not that I would actually keep it four years or more, after all I fly in VR LOL.
As far as my EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra goes? Yeah I could still sell it right now for a good buck, but no this time I am not going to do that. My grandson who could sorely use a better GPU is going to be the beneficiary of a nice gift from Grandpa. He does not know yet. Going to give this 4090 couple of weeks or so to make sure won't need the 3090, then spring it on him. I think he will be ecstatic. He loves PC's but can not afford the top end at this time understandibly.
He will also be receiving my complete PC system whatever I am running at the time and all flight and racing sim controllers upon my passing whenever that is. Least I don't have to worry about my wife throwing it all in the trash LOL.

Well got the new 4090 OC installed today, after a few hours of frustration. I ain't what I used to be mentally, plus I am half blind which has it's own issues along with some memory issues. But she is in now and running properly. It is idling at 0 fan speed and 45c - plus it is warm in here right now. Impressive.
Too fried to do much more today especially testing, will resume the festivities tomorrow. I feel dinner and a movie in my future. I need to relax after all this frustration today. What I used to have done in less than an hour took over 3 hours today. My 3090 idling at 0 fan speed would be around 60c.
After 25 years of doing my own builds I am afraid my next build I best order pre-built. Have to accept the way things are for me now. I also get very confused very easily now.

Well, I used to build my own rigs too, but much easier letting the nerds/geeks do it in the shop - they make 1000s of rigs each year. And new mainboards may come with new slots and challenges, also for setting everything up in the bios etc. That is another reason to like the PS5, cognitively the PS5 won't be much of a challenge... I am slightly worried about inserting the new NVMe correctly though, but I have not lost faith yet, lol

Wow just ran a Time Spy benchmark for a quick test for the card.
She is boosting to 2805 MHz with max GPU temp of 58C. Royally spanks my 3090. It boosted to 2100 MHz at 70c.
I will take it!
Off to bed, I am fried and exhausted (up since 3:00 am), tomorrow is a new day.

It was a great ride but I ain't the man I used to be, not by a long shot. As far as Play Stations, long as I am able to maintain PC gaming don't see me ever getting one. The day I can no longer do PC gaming which I don't see happening I may then give Play Station a try.

Ok so testing in DCS Spit Cold Start Channel Map, a mission I have been flying whilst I learn the Spit for the last couple of weeks.
My fps went from 40-50 fps with the 3090 to 65-75fps with the 4090. Frametimes down to 11-14 ms or so. Previously they were like 18-20 ms.Top GPU Temp whilst flying the mission was 52c.
I think I am going to be very pleased with this 4090. Think I will test Varjo Motion Reprojection now that I have a 4090 and see how it does - I know it is still in Beta at this time.

Yeah and that makes sense for you and what you do, me 99% of my play time is spent flying DCS. I just do not have the time for much investment in other games right now. I still have IL-2 Great Battles and MSFS 2020 installed that are hardly seeing any action lately.

You forgot the sarcasm sign. Being the only benchmark doesn't mean it's good or important.

What would be the purpose? Never been much for "playing benchmarks"... You might want to check "your sources".

The sources was just a joke ;-) I think your Aero with the RTX 4090 has reached a performance level where the hmd may be a lot more interesting to many. A level where it really starts to shine. I'd love to see your performance with the Aero after getting the 4090. Testing is a way to get rid of subjective impressions and get some objective results.

Seeing Actual FPS and frametime numbers in a game that he plays is a better form of testing than running a benchmark that has consistency issues in a game (CyubeVR) that he doesn't and never will play imo.
