Game arrives Feb 22 - only support for Index and Vive - for now: The game is here: store.steampowered.com/app/951570/Deadness/- Screenshots look great - and RTX 2070 for recommended gpu indicates you'll need some gpu power for this game... Usually you need something twice as fast as the recommended gpu when increasing the res and selecting Ultra graphics setting :-)

This game will look amazing on a oled hmd vr due to amount of dark corners and shadow filled areas in the game, but on any lcd vr hmd it will look just awful, just like saints and sinner which i ran on the index and QII, then on the PSVR, and the psvr was miles better simply because the atmosphere and immersion that the game created with light and dark corners, which was removed by the lcd panels on the index and QII with both merging everything into one grey haze.......ha

Yea does look good. Will depend on how the scenes are whether LCD grayness will be a problem or not. From the trailer, most are illuminated with gray like light already so likely won't be much of an issue. I will say though, you must have gotten lucky with the PSVR lotto and got one without much MURA lol. Mine looks pretty bad in dark areas. Everytime there's a dark scene on mine it looks similar to this - I've put my face in 3 others and they all have it too. But yea, I do miss my Samsung Odyssey+ for dark scenes, it looked incredible.

No i can see that on mine also, BUT, the lenses on the PSVR are the clearest and sharpest of any of the HMDs i have owned, plus not on single ray or glare issue, Sony were ahead of the curve with this headset in those points, but it falls over when it comes to roomscale VR as the PS camera is guff as are the PS move controllers, but as a seated VR hmd the PSVR is awesome, i love Skyrim and No mans sky(The latter on the PS5 with the PSVR is just stunning). ha

Nice. Yea, I agree on those points. It was definitely the best of the "first gen" of this wave of VR headsets. I also agree that move is complete ass but it wasn't designed for VR. I'm a day one buyer for PSVR 2 so I hope they knock it out of the park for all our sake as we need bigger budget games for VR. Sony's strategy of merging games with adding "VR support" on top will be interesting to watch. I don't see why that process couldn't be streamlined in the engines to make VR automatically implemented for the most part. Sure it won't be quite as immersive as a built from ground up VR experience...but considering those aren't selling units it's definitely time to try something else.

I had places where I could see all objects with the CV1, but close to none with the Index - due to the darkness. So little light was available that the Index' darkest gray totally washed out the scene, while the CV1 even with spud could show much better blacks. I'm really not exaggerating by stating using CV1 I do not need the flashlight in Saints & Sinners, while using Index I depend on the flashlight - it's a major difference being able to see at night or not. This also goes for Song in the Smoke - I can see like 10 feet ahead at night using Index, but CV1 it's like 150 feet or so - can nearly see everything. In Song in the Smoke there're predators out at night - you don't appreciate a view distance of 10 feet, lol. Unfortunately, the CV1 SDE makes that game look very bad at daytime, while the Index shines using res 400% in perfect 90 fps. With the Index, I sleep at night and hunt during the day. With the CV1 it's close to the opposite - and I'm not even trying to be funny ;-) For Deadness it may be a different situation. Devs have had many years to test lcd hmds. Originally the game was made for Vive (=oled), and the trailer in 2019 looks very advanced, surely that game has been in development at least since 2017. You just need a little light to make great blacks using lcd - but total darkness or close is a no-go. Checking the images below, it seems that devs cleverly may have added light-sources to most/all locations, we'll see.

^^^Yeap, and if you look at Valves Alyx VR you can see quite clearly(pardon the pun), valves game style and look choices to make sure this was not a issue on their index, the only game i can think off that seems to have dealt with the whole lcd grey issues almost perfectly.

I still haven't played Saints and Sinners or Song in the smoke, despite owning both and really wanting to play the latter. I may wait for an OLED HMD to jump in. I just bought a new racing wheel and itching to dive into that again. My brother plays Iracing a lot so I need to show him what's up lol.

Deadness is the one game I'd buy for PSVR2 if I could :-)
