Just checking the ropes - this one has local co-op for the kids - and initially was a Playstation exclusive: - but minutes ago I just saw it has arrived on Steam about a month ago I wanted only to get Playstation exclusives for the PS5 - now I bought a Steam game Only paid $10 for the PS5 disc version though - and it's $40 on Steam - I guess I'm ok In the PS5 Store, the game costs $70 or so - over here. Also bought anther game from Insomniac Games - my heroes from the Oculus' exclusives: Stormland, Edge of Nowhere and Feral Rites - Sony bought the studio - and look what they have been up to: Got it for $25 on disc - price in the Sony Store is about $80. Probably not gonna play those platformers myself, but Ratchet should have some of the best PS5 graphics - and still is a PS5 exclusive (not available for PS4) - so interesting to see... Feels kinda strange to be back on discs - but I love getting physical stuff! Like in the great old days

Did Oculus do such promotions?
Not bad, lol. Problem with VR has always been, no one knows about the games.
Just ask anyone you meet: "What is Lone Echo?"
See how many know the answer...

Ragnarok is impressive - and then again, not so much.
I can see that the game was made for the PS4 non-Pro, the console with just 1.8 tflops. That console only supports the game in 30 fps - you need the PS4 Pro for 60 fps. And seems Pro struggles to keep more than about 50 fps - while PS5 is solid 60 fps, but struggles to deliver more than 80-90 fps. The textures do look great and more high-res with PS5.
But it's still a game made for a 1.8 tflops processor - PS4 has the exact same level of polygons:
Arriving at the large town of the dwarves, I was impressed - but then all the dwarves ran into their houses to hide. So got another dead world - and the lack of lifeforms seems to be a theme of this game.
I suspect devs focused on the awesome environments, leaving little headroom for animating like tons of dwarves including AI.
That's what I miss most in the game right now, more npcs - and more AI controlled lifeforms - and I bet that's due to the extremely weak PS4 (not much faster than XR2, but only has to do 30 fps).
Just check out Ratchet & Clank in the first city where you look for the Phantom, the city is brimming with life/robots and npcs.
Compared to Ratchet - which is a true PS5 game - Ragnarok feels quite dead-ish. So far also feels very repetitive, often I feel like I'm wasting my time playing the game - did that with other 2d games too, but I don't recall that feeling in VR. That's was presence is about too. 2c.
(I'm only 3% through the game. I'll eat my words later if needed, lol.)

Hmmm, I just realized something ... maybe ... Today's math: Playing PS5 on my Sony 85" 4K 120 Hz Android Smart-TV + The wife hates the PS5 and it can never be in the living room = PS5 Remote Play (?) IF PS5 works like PS4... (and PS TV should not be needed as the Android TV should work like a phone) www.playstation.com/en-dk/remote-play/The PS5 controller should work with BlueTooth... It's my new project later today

Yea, They developed Ragnarok alongside the last version. It's not a PS5 focused game. I think the next one will probably transition to Unreal 5 and be crazy again. You gotta remember it takes them a very long time to create games with this much detail and story. That all said, yea I didnt' enjoy Ragnarok as much as the last one but I still enjoyed it. It's a 9/10 at worst for me and the last one was like 9.8 outta 10. I've seen a lot of review sites give it 10/10 though. IE - www.ign.com/articles/god-of-war-ragnarok-review

IE - www.ign.com/articles/god-of-war-ragnarok-reviewI'll give it more time - it might grow on me, the World Serpent(s) does look awesome. But after seeing some reviewers criticizing Asgard's Wrath for being very repetitive then I was surprised to get that exact feeling from Ragnarok (also being a 94 Metascore game) - and it seems I'm not alone (there are many similar vids, this it just an example): Maybe there are similar vids of Asgard's Wrath. But the immersion in VR is the difference (or key) to me - when I feel presence, then the enjoyment of being in the world easily removes my focus from repetitive tasks if present - but maybe that's just me. If Sony could turn God of War into VR, sure that'll be a winner - not sure it's that hard, maybe a 3rd person approach like Edge of Nowhere, although much better if I could hold my own weapons and be Kratos in 1st person. EDIT: I do enjoy the scenery and vistas in Ragnarok - image quality is very high, and there are no jaggies (so great antialiasing and/or super sampling) - Asgard's Wrath is very intensive, and sometimes the need to physically relax can win, lol - so to reduce stress to some degree (between larger battles), exploring Ragnarok does have some advantages :-)

Pyroth, do you think Returnal will keep me interested for more than 20 minutes? ;-) Do you think it's a great game - if you ever played the game?
I consider buying it because it's a native PS5 game...
Was considering getting that Demon's Souls too, but I bought Dark Souls 3 many years ago and never made it through the first boss, the boss you *cough* meet after like 10 minutes, double sigh...

Probably not lol. I enjoyed it, it's a roguelike shooter that's kinda challenging. World is different each time you go through. Graphics are nice for sure though.

Just saw it yesterday visiting my sister - her husband has the game. I wasn't impressed, but it did not look bad either. Might pick it up someday. Still need to finish like 90% of Death Stranding too, lol

The game did not look very interesting on the plasma, I think I'll patch it and then try the game using PSVR2 bigscreen instead...

Returnal isn't bad using PSVR2, I do feel more immersed.
That said, the game does feel boring, very dark and grey, not a place it's very interesting to be. Textures aren't very high-res. Ratchet and Clank feels miles ahead of this game. Sound from the guns are really good with the Pulse 3D. But I've only played for an hour, still feels tutorial-ish, but so far the game has not impressed me.

Tried it with the plasma TV today, and I did not like it. Image too clean, I need the PSVR2 mura - which works like film grain. Using PSVR2, Returnal is sharp - feels I'm finally getting benefits of the 4k panels. Graphics look like I hoped all PSVR2 games would look like, performance is fine, image at 75% takes up my entire fov, I'm immersed much like in Moss 1-2. It's much better that GT7 VR, but worse the CotM and RE8. It's now my 4th AAA PSVR2 game ;-) No clue what I'm doing, after 3 hours I'm 23% through level one...

Got the Morales Spidey game today thinking I'm on a roll with VR-pancakes, lol. But no - that game was not very impressive, felt like some 2D game on a big screen, maybe because it's so bright. Returnal blends in with the black oled screen much better. Maybe my small VR-pancake adventure starts and stops with Returnal...

Yea, it looked bad to me from the trailers. I haven't gotten to the monitor games yet on PSVR. I haven't really enjoyed it in the past so I probably still won't. But I may try something on it soon.

Might be fun for my 11 year-old son, he played through the entire game of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. So I'm getting something in return from the PS5, maybe just not exactly what I originally intended ,lol.
